Let's hope Carl brought some of that speed with him to Richmond!   Cool

Early surprise...Jeff Fuller is 13th fastest so far out of 27 cars that have practiced.

Carl just got 3 laps in, he is currently the slowest, but hardly any of the underdogs have taken the track.  Carls best lap was 22.213 @ 121.550MPH   He always takes it easy early on in practice to feel out the car.

Carl just did 4 more laps, picked up some speed. 22.086 @ 122.249MPH. He is currently the 39th fastest out of 41 cars to practice. He is currently ahead of Dale Jarret and Ken Schrader.  Tony Raines is currently 35th fastest, Jeff Fuller is 22nd fastest and Mike Garvey is 28th.  The other underdogs have, for the most part, not taken the track yet.

halfway through, carl is 43rd of 45 who have taken time. still no laps for the #27 and #89. He's run 15 laps total.

He is only faster than one other underdog at this point, with Shepard and Shelmerdine yet to run. He is faster than Jarrett but he is locked in the top 35. He has to beat 4 underdogs to get in.

Carl needs to find the speed to beat at least one more outsider, Sauter 8th quickest so far.  I love Richmond, when your driver has 2 career wins you look at those tracks more favorably.

Good lawd, Shelmerdine is slow.  I mean, he is usually off the pace, but it's flat out BAD today.  He did 4 laps, best lap was 24.428 @ 110.529MPH

Carl just got a few more laps in. Lookin' better....he is now 43rd fastest with a lap of 21.928 @ 123.130. Unfortunately he is only ahead of 2 underdogs.  Shepard and Shelmerdine.

They didn't have a good replay of it, but it looked like he just lost it on his own.
