If RJ was prepared for this race then how come they were sitting in the garage while the other drivers were on the track.

Damn.

I don't know what else to say.

Heck, I don't even know what to think of this.  Maybe there's more to the story than just the fact that they were not quick enough.  Guess we'll find out sooner or later.

Ruined my whole weekend though. Embarrassed

Because NASCAR lets the top 35 teams go through tech first, then fills in with the rest after the top 35 teams go through.  For a team not in the top 35 you would have to be in line way early to sit in line, most small teams elect to work on the car a bit more and go through late, this loses time on the track.  Also NASCAR gives the top 35 teams their tires first, so teams like R&J get whats left and they are crap that doesn't match.  If you took the #20's worst set it would be much better than the best set from the 37.  There are more things like this but it is a nature of the NASCAR beast.

Hey Mattswad, I used to watch the guy you have on your avator on tv about 10 or 15 years ago. He has a Boris Said head.

Sigh. Decent pickup in speed over practice but not enough by a fraction. It'll be interesting to know exactly why the team only ran a paltry 9 laps in practice - if this really was a life or death race for them then you'd think they would have had the car on track for a decent amount of time to get it properly set up...

Yeah, Bob Ross was the best. I used to watch him every day on PBS because I had nothing better to do. Man, those were the days!

Back on topic, what do ya'll think will be next? 600? Truck Racing? Pocono? NHIS?

Well the 600 sounds like it will be Kerry.  The truck deal is done.  What's this "make or break" stuff about?  I thought the team were on the verge of announcing a new big sponsor? Huh

I'm going to be brutally honest and say what I think here - the #37 car was easily the worst piece of machinery on the entry list. To have outqualified Blount and come within a tenth or two of making it in that thing is indicitive to me of Carl's talent rather than the quality of the car itself - unless they make major improvements before the 600 they've got no realistic chance of making the field if the entry list is as inflated as can be expected.

It's hard to say, Mike. The results we're looking at come from being screwed in practice and making all of 6 or 8 laps I think it was? Picked up 7 tenths in qualifying and missed the race by .07 aka 7 hundreths. I just don't know what to think. If they still have past equipment, I think that they are a pretty solid underfunded effort. Does anyone know if they still have the Ernie Elliott motors? Or what they use, for that matter. I was always thinking they had Ganassi cars and Ernie Elliott motors.
