If practice were qualifying, the #34, #37, #55, and #78 would miss the race. Last year Carl was 35th after practice and ended up 21st. He picked up 0.6 seconds. If he does that this year, he would be around 27-31st. Come on Carl, lets get it in the show! This is the new beginning...

I love his qualifying spot! He will get some good TV coverage. He's the last car to qualify of the non top 35. Based on his practice speed I would say he's got a good shot. Carl always leaves some on the table during practice.
Go Fast Carl in that #37!!!

Stan Hover Motorsports is by far the best team on the NASCAR circuit not to make a race this year (yet). Go #80 get some better equipment!

Practice means nothing! The factor that is more relevant is the weather. Anybody know if going out last could improve his chances? Usually going last is a big positive, let's hope so.

I depends on how hot it is. If it is in the 80's and sunny then yes. Carl must drive the track, over driving kills laps at Darlington. I was there in 1997 or 1998 with D. Trickle when he thought he drove a horrible lap, he was telling the team he was sorry and should have done better when Tommy Baldwin came on the radio and said for a horrible lap he would take Dick's top five starting postion. What seems like a bad lap can be fast!
Go Fast #37!

I don't think weather will play much of a factor today. They'll be done by 5:30, and the sun hasn't even started to go down by then.
He just needs a good lap.

With all the preparation R&J Racing made to run decent again, Im quite surprised where Carl standed in practice. I thought Carl would do a little better in practice. However Carl still has a shot at qualifying for the event.

When I first heard he was going to be in the 37 car I thought it was good news. The team spent weeks preparing for this race and the car is still bad. Carl knows how to get around Darlington, its definently not his fault he didnt Q.

How will this effect RJ? I heard that this was pretty much a life or death race for them.

That's a bummer. He wasn't all that far off from the last guy to make it into the show. Cope made a good lap, 33rd, with Barrett in 34th. David Stremme in fourth! Can someone tell me why Raines has been so slow? He was off pace in practice and way off in qualifying. What gives?

The car didnt see the track for nearly the WHOLE practice session. That was the problem. RJ is a good team IMO, just they didnt catch a break this weekend. Minimal track time in practice and picked up nearly 7 tenths in qualifying. What more can you do??

Maybe Carl can get some money to do his own car. I would love to see him at Michigan.
