Does anyone have any idea whose all running it, I heard RCR might bring out the 33 car.  Did Carl crack the top 50 with the qualifying points?, because I'd love to see him run in a field with cars he might be able to run top-10 against.

Qualifying points are only awarded to the owners points, not drivers.  And if I'm not mistaken, its based (stupidly) on drivers points as to who gets a chance at the Open.

it was based on driver points from the end of 2004 and as of march 18th '05 driver points or something dumb like that. That I don't understand.

If it matters:

57.  #00 - Carl Long - 71pts. - -1491 - 3 Starts

The Open doesn't really appeal to me this year.  I always like it in the past when the underdogs could go at it.  Kirk, Morgan, Carl, Stanton (and Belmont last year) could show off what they could and really make a statement.  This year...........................its just big name teams that are having a bad season.

At least Derrike Cope will be there driving for Larry Gunselman.

26 #27 Kirk Shelmerdine Ford Freddie B's 176.344 30.622 -1.985
27 #160 Derrike Cope Chevrolet Year One 174.390 30.965 -2.328
28 #89 Morgan Shepherd Dodge Victory in Jesus/Red Line Oil 171.152 31.551 -2.914

That'd be the bottom of the Nextel Open practice chart there.  I was hoping DC would have more speed than that, but hopefully he's gonna pick it up in qualifying.

Kevin Lepage in 14th!

Cant hold out much hope for Cope.  Its a Larry Gunselmin team.  Mach 1 did HORRIBLE last year when he was involved.  1st race for this team.  How did he get this car?  Is it s left over car from #98 last year?   Doubt it since its a Chevrolet.

Thought Hendrick/Haas had the #60 registered for the Haas/CNC car that's been running the plate races the past few years??

What happened to the SWAT deal??? Thought Cope and Larry Hollenback were running the full schedule??  All it says on their website is that they're planning to run both Michigan ARCA races.  Once again, another media hoopla story  Roll Eyes

Do you know that for a fact?  Maybe the funding never came together like expected after Daytona.  Everytime this happens you say it's a media hype, maybe you should just cut them a break unless you know what really happened.
