Here's a link confirming everything:

http://www.nascar.com/2006/news/headlines/cup/05/09/klepage.bsherman.hanges/index.html

As far as the teams getting the $$ to compete; you have to remember something.  It's not how much you have coming in, It's the difference between what is coming in and what is going out.  FRM has had decent sponsorship this season and until the flameout in Richmond, they hadn't destroyed too many cars.

BAM is even in better shape. Although they have wrecked several cars, they have consistantly had good sponsorship.  That may change if/when Serta leaves. But they seem to be able to attract sponsors.

I think both teams will complete the season. After that, who knows.

I have to respectfully disagree with you Ben.  I would say that FR's sponsorship has been minimal to non-existant.  Makito is really all they've had for a few select races they've qualified for.  State water heaters at T'dega was part of the PEAK deal.  Oak Gloves is Jenkins' company.

At Martinsville, both cars were not destroyed but will need complete new bodies and I'm sure many other random/various parts as they were both in several accidents.  At Daytona, the 92 was destroyed (although it has since been fixed).  At Talladega, the 34 was pretty much wiped out as well.  Needs a whole right side clip, and probably a million other parts.  At Vegas, Chaffin blew an engine.  So every single race the team has made, they've severely damaged their car.

BAM's sponsorship money (as has been discussed in a couple of other threads...can't remember them off of the top of my head) is basicly chicken scratch for a full time team.  Schwans didn't give them very much at all, and I doubt Serta did either.  Now, once again, they have nothing.  I'm sure Fire-Dex can't afford to step up to full sponsorship and they don't have a slew of big time associate or contingency sponsors either.  (SEM, American Liberty Mortgage, Freightliner & Autolite are all that I know of)

And LILK, I know $$ doesn't equal success in racing, I meant to make a point of that.  But you pretty much HAVE to have tons of it to survive.  I would really be curious as to the budget of FRM.  They are certainly making the most of what they have! Smiley

Ok I'll give you one tidbit about FRM.

I was contacted by FRM to see if I wanted to sponsor the three car team.  When I mentioned the figures I wanted to spend I didn't get a lot of response.  Bob Jenkins is not hurting for cash like Chris Edwards was.

I know they made a profit with two cars in the race two weeks ago, and one last week, but that was figured before the fire damage to the 61.

John are you sending any help towards the R&J Racing team this weekend?  If you are thanks.

I don't even know who that is.

We're kind of dropping out of the NASCAR sponsorship mode for a while.

Sort of a fall back and regroup strategy.

No such thing in Nascar as a shoe in.  One fast clean lap, then he's a shoe in!

Hendrick has two cars in the top ten and one car dead last on speed.

Terry's better than that!
