Damn...wish I'd been reading this thread sooner. Kerry Earnhardt and Carl Long working together on the same raceteam? That's virtually a dream come true for me.
Obviously, I'm a huge fan of the Earnhardt family, but Kerry's always had a certain element that Jr. didn't. Jr. earned everything he got in racing, but he had someone to guide him along the way as he was doing it. Kerry stepped aside for a few years so he could raise his children, then he came back to try and make an attempt at racing. If his daddy hadn't been killed in 2001, he'd probably be in Cup today. Unfortunately, he and Teresa were never the best of friends and he got a shaft deal over at DEI. Now he's become a bit of a nomad to the racing world, but he's still hanging around and enjoying himself. It'd be great if R&J could afford to field both Kerry and Carl...but obviously they're having enough problems just getting one car in the show. Two will never happen.

Junior looks more and more like his dad every year, he just hasn't developed the receding hairline yet. His mother had lighter hair when she was younger...that's where that comes from. You can definitely see his father in him as he gets older. But I agree, Kerry is a mirror image of his father. How the world went 16 years without realizing they were father and son is beyond me. |

I work with R&J Racing.. and I was the one that got Kerry Earnhardt involved with the race team. We are going to run races with both Carl and Kerry. We did not run real hard down at Charlotte this past week due to the fact it is the same car we are going to run during both the All Star Weekend and the 600 race. We were more intrested in working with the chasis set up than going out and tearing up the motor.

could u hint who will be driving the 600. Or will it be based on carl's performance at Darlington. Kerry is a great driver who just wasn;t given a decent shot. I am really excited about R&J;s potential. They were an excellent team last year. Just need some Sponsors

I was told today who is going to be in the 600 but I am not willing to say at this time.. I will make a press release right after Darlington this weekend explaining our sponsor, and drivers for the upcoming races.

I'll go ahead and give you a heads up that it will probably NOT be Carl in the 600. This is the deal.....Kerry is supposedly bringing sponsorship. R&J can't turn that down! That would be crazy! The only problem is that the trucks are racing somewhere else that weekend so they are trying to make sure they can work it out so Kerry can be at both races. Carls is on stand by!!..LOL! This is not definite....I am just letting you know ahead of time what the probabilities are so everyone doesn't get their hopes up!

To me, this is all good news so far. Whoever runs the 600, I wish the team well. If the team has some sucess, it can only be good for both Kerry and Carl. I can't wait for Darlington, hope the car is ready to go!
P.S. Hope everyone is voting for chex most popular driver (Carl Long)

Thanks for keeping us updated DeeDee! Hopefully Carl can run the car since Kerry will be running the truck at Mansfield. Just hope with Kerry bringing sponsorship, it doesn't hurt Carl's chances to run more races for them.

Kerry is not bringing sponsorship. He has not even finalized racing with the team as of yet. Kerry and John Carter have not came to terms on the details.

Oh, ok. Don't get me wrong, I love Kerry, he's one of my all time favorites! I'm a lifelong Earnhardt fan. But Carl is, of course, my favorite and hope to see him on track as much as possible. Either way, best of wishes to yourself and the entire Team this coming weekend and throughout the rest of the year! Thanks for posting to keep us updated!

Wow my spelling was bad on that last post.
I will post stuff as soon as I hear it is ok from the team owner. But dont get me wrong... I was told that we are going to be ruing many races with both Kerry and Carl... I think with the seat time both drivers will get.. It will set up a great team for our hopeful full run next year.
