Problem solved!

Victory in Mattswad/Team LILK Motor Racing Sports has announced it will field the #68 Big Daddy's/Amazon.com Dodge Durango for Kerry Earnhardt in a deal to run the Winston Open and the Coca-Cola 600, the team announced today. The team has hired Donnie Disharoon to coordinate the effort. The team will recieve equipment support from Jay Robinson Racing and will share info with RJ Motorsports and Carl Long. In this agreement, Vim/LILK has agreed that if Earnhardt qualifies for the race and Long doesn't, they will secede the car to Long, and will let Long drive if the car makes the Winston Open. Team president Rhea Fain stated this reasoning, stating "We borrowed the car from my sister, and she doesn't know it yet. I don't want to wreck it."

Thanks also for the update!  LOL, I just got a call back from John Carter.   Cheesy  I told his wife not to worry about having him call back, but he said he saw my # on the caller ID and wanted to give me a shout back.  What a bunch of nice, down to earth, country people! Smiley

He said (as DD mentioned) that they were indeed going to run the 600 & the Open.  They're not sure who will drive the 600, but neither Carl nor Kerry can drive in the Open.  He doesn't know who they will get yet, he said they have until next Monday to find a driver & send in the entry form.

It will be between Carl & Kerry for the 600.  When I asked about them, John said something to the effect of, "man I sure do think the world of them 2 boys...they're my kind of people!"  He said something along those lines twice in the minute or 2 I was on the phone with him!  Smiley  I made sure to mention I was a longtime fan of Carl & hope to see them together for a long time, he said he would too but it was all dependant on sponsorship.

Wouldn't that be a great opportunity for Coca Cola to step in?  Georgia based company, Georgia team, driving in the Coca Cola 600?!  Somebody send those guys an email!

Lets see...got my 2006 Press Guide  in front of me....Who are the eligible drivers that R&J can put in the car for the All Start Open?

2005 Top 50 drivers without a full-time ride....

Mike Bliss--who does he drive for in Trucks?  Manufacturer conflict?
Mike Wallace--will probably be in 09, 49 or 52
Bobby Hamilton JR--Drives Dodge in Trucks...could run the 04 for his dad though
Jason Leffler--Chevy team in Busch, probably no big deal though
Kevin LePage--Will #61 still be in business then?
Boris Said--Now contracted to Ford
Johnny Sauter--May run the #70 For Hendrick/Haas-CNC
Jimmy Spencer--Could be in #49
Mike Skinner--Could be in #23

Bill Elliott--Doubt he would do it
Ricky Rudd--Doubt he's interested
Terry LaBonte--Chevy wouldn't let him, Already eligible for All Star via past Champion

But also, somewhere in that idiotic rule book, doesn't it say that the driver must be in the top 50 from last years points AND must have attempted at least one race of the current season? Huh  God, these rules are confusing and stupid.  I miss 3 years ago's rules! Angry

2006 Drivers---again, not sure of the eligibility, I think you have to be in the top 50 drivers standings from either this year (by a certain cut off date...probably after this weekend) or last year.

Chad Blount--drove for team at Daytona, currently 53rd in standings
Brandon Ash--52nd in standings
Brent Serman--42nd in standings, will he still be with BAM by then?

Thanks for the update DD.  We all want to see Carl race this year.  Any testing he gets with the team is great!  Maybe if the team lands a decent sponsor they will run two teams.  Kerry and Carl driving.  Thats good.  Looking foward to Darlington though.  The team does need to get together before hand I believe.  Meeting in the garage area 1 day before qualifying would have probably been a problem.  Can we skip Richmond and go right to Darlington?

They are going to be sponsoring Kyle Petty, so this isn't going to happen.

Hello everyone!  It seems as though everyone is a little confused as to what the heck is going on with this Charlotte test.  I'll try to inform you the best that I can...lol.
This was a last minute decision.  They were NOT testing the Darlington car.  The team has discussed possibly running Charlotte.  Carl, obviously is not eligible for the All Star because it does go by the top 50 in 'drivers'points.  I think he fell 53.....(what a bummer that is)!  It is between Carl and Kerry to run the 600(thats what I have been told anyhow).  Don't bash Kerry, however.  He is a great guy and a friend of ours!!  He was at the track yesterday and he and Carl both ran the last practice and ran about the same speeds.  Carl said Kerry was awesome to work with and everything went great (well except he (carl) did wreck the car in the first practice...don't know if you guys knew that...lol)  It wasnt bad...just sheet metal damage.  Carl said something set up under the car was not right (He told me what it was but I was half asleep and was only acting like I was listening..lol)  Instead of fixing the car they got out the 2nd car and Carl said this was the worse of the two cars but they tried something different under the car and it ran alot faster and felt a lot better.  Carl said the first car was soo bad Kerry wouldn't even get in it to attempt to run it.
I hope that helps to answer some of your questions.
Sorry Tom, I didn't realize Carl hadn't spoken to you in the past few days.

hope Carl gets the nod

yeah we have another person to give us information on Carl

by the way how many cars does r&j have they should try a 2 car team with Carl and Kerry there both experienced drivers and according to DD Carl says hes awesome to work with (kerry)

I doubt they will ever run a 2 car race.  Remember, they are unsponsored and need to use all their resources on one car making the show.  If they were going to do a 2 car race they would have done it last year when they were doing well and had some sponsorship money.

Sorry Tom, I didn't realize Carl hadn't spoken to you in the past few days.

I last spoke with Carl on monday of last week. I do actually think he mentioned the stuff about testing to me and it totally escaped my mind. So if anyone, I should apologize. This was when I did not have internet working and i just moved into the new place a day prior, just been having to deal with a lot lately.

I guess i'm losing my mind in my old age. Wink
