Interesting 24 hours for me
« on: May 17, 2006, 09:06:00 PM »

So...I decided I'd share the last 24 hours of my life with everyone.  I don't usually make posts like this, just decided I would in this one instance.

Last night I bowled my first tournament on an actual pro shot.  Only 13 people bowled, but at least 2 were people that could be considered "area bowling Gods."  I bowled games of 211, 173, and 209 in qualifying.  I won high game pot first and third games and qualified first for the round of 4.  In the semis I won 163-143, then struggled and lost 157-148 in the finals.  I did much better than I expected, so I was quite pleased after it was over.  I can't wait for next week to bowl in another...hopefully I can keep working on it and get even better.

Then for the bad.  This morning I was driving on a back road to school.  Four cars were in front of me, and at least 1 behind.  For some reason as we went around a 90 degree turn the car in the front of the line slammed on the brakes and came to a dead stop.  The next 3 cars in line got stopped and I barely locked the brakes down in time to get my car stopped.  The guy behind me wasn't as lucky, and he smashed into the back of my '89 Cavalier(practically all metal for those of you unfamilar with the older models).  We pulled off onto a farm lane to check things out and talk it over.  At the time my car had no damage, and his front end was caved in slightly.  I decided not to take the guy's information down, and we both drove off on our way.  I came home from school and laid down for a nap.  When I awoke I noticed a soarness in my ribs.  It's bothering me a little bit at the moment, but hopefully it goes away by Sunday because I have a HUGE tournament to bowl in.

Just thought I'd share...this will never happen again, just felt the need to tell my story.

You probably bumped off the steering wheel. Very easy to bruise yourself there - if the pain doesn't subside in 4-5 days or so I'd get it checked out.

Your in a bowling league 2? Cheesy Lol, I guess I should have noticed that. 39 I am as well.  Thats awesome. We have a game every Wednesday night from 6:45- games end. We have played two games so far and we are currently 4th out of 18th teams. This is my first year in a bowling league and it is so cool. I bowled a high of 223 last night and we were in the same lane with the #1 ranked team. This one guy came one frame away from 300!!! He and his teamate have goten 300 more than 6 times while I have been there. BTW, I have the very ball in your avatar. Grin

It sounds like you're having a decent first season of bowling.  That's pretty surprising that you're throwing The One.  It's the best ball currently on the market, but an awfully strong ball for someone without experience.  I threw about 60 games on it before I started to understand how to control it.  My average(not an official, just an estimate) dropped from about 215 to a 205 before I started to figure it out...now I average 220+ with it.  I usually suggest mid range balls for people starting out, but if you can handle it all the power to ya.

My summer league is a NASCAR league, meaning that the league champions receive tickets to Dover this year.  I'm excited, as Dover's my 4th favorite track on the circuit.  My team's easily the best, it's all about how the handicap shakes up that decides whether or not we'll be able to win.

Speaking of bowling, this is completely unrelated.

I havent bowled in YEARS. Last night me and a group of friends went to quarter night at AMF's local lines and i just wanted to break 100. I kept using the in-house bowling balls that were all scratched up and stuff, and then had my best game within 5 minutes when we were trying to beat the midnight clock to get the full game in. A best of 151! I think we're gonna do it again next week, only I should try and stick to one ball instead of throwing em all Wink lol

I have had the ball for a while and still am not great with it. I use it when I need it, I have a 15lb I usemost of the time. I will get some photos uploaded.
