BAM Racing to make announcement @ Dover?
« on: May 17, 2006, 08:06:35 PM »

On BAM's website, they say that an announcement regarding the rest of 2006 could be made as early as Darlington. I'm pretty sure it will at least concern a sponsor.

You guys think Lepage will get the full-time gig?

BTW, looks like State Water Heaters will be on the car for the Open/Challenge and 600 races.

Serta and Hickory Farms are gone, so they need some support.  I would like to see Lepage get the gig.

LePage HAS the gig!  What are you guys talking about?   Remember...it was only a few days ago....sheesh....he left the 61 car for the 49.  How is that "new news" or worthy of an announcement?

I'm guessing the announcement is that they are cutting back to a partial schedule.

Whenever someone with an "interim" title gets it permanently, it's "new news."  Happens all the time with coaches...

I think he is very likely to get it unless a driver with a sponsor pops up.

Its just a shameless ploy to get more media attention by "announcing" he has the gig when he's actually had it from day one.  Yeah, you're right, it happens all of the time, but God, it sure does get on my nerves.

Still wondering if they're cutting back?

Teams usually don't make a big announcement of things when they cut back to a limited schedule.  They post something on their website about it and try to fade away without being noticed too much.  I don't think their announcement is going to be scaling back.  Lepage may have been able to get a sponsor to tag along and join this team, and that's the big announcement.

The only reason I need to see the need for a press conference is if they have a new sponsor, or they were sold. I certainly don't see them starting a second team any time soon.

Kevin will bring home a top 25 for BAM one of these days.  That decison to hire him might have saved this team from collapsing.

You have a point. Kevin always seems to do well with underfunded teams. I think Peak hiring him kept them around for 2006.

this is like the fourth lepage-bam stint there has been.

if you havent followed the team, look at jayski's BAM archives. he is a great friend of the owners and they have put him in the car a few times now.

they might finally lock him up for a while in this car. because after losing schrader- and sherman- what young driver will ever want to drive that car. its too bad their RP program is awful. because thats where lepage excells. sure, schrader had a bunch of good RP runs, but they were due to attrition/great drafting at the end.

i hope lepage can bring this team back out of the grave. but i wouldnt wish for a favorite driver to go there again. they have an attrocious pit crew and a sub par engine program.
