Quote
Larry Mac...owner? hearing Fox broadcaster Larry McReynolds is looking into becoming a NASCAR team owner again, supposedly with John Dangler. Supposedly a Busch Series deal in 2007 that would move up to Nextel Cup in 2008, McReynolds was part owner of the ill-fated BANG Racing team in 2004.(5-15-2006)

This would be Larry's third attempt at a Cup team. See my phantom teams thread for more info.

He's never fielded a phantom team.  His first "attempt" he said he wanted to start a team, but never actually got anything going in the process.  The second team, Bang!, was doomed to a failure.  Alex Meshkin had no idea what he was doing and wouldn't let Larry Mac and Mike Skinner run the team the way they felt they needed it run.  Larry Mac bolted, Toyota relocated Skinner, and Meshkin drove the team into the ground while collecting lawsuits on his way down.

Larry Mac needs to decide what he wants to do...does he want to be an analyst or a team owner?  In my view, it's impossible to do both.

I hope he becomes a team owner. Hearing him butcher the English language week in and week out is more painful than detention.

I guess being from a small town it doesn't bother me as much as others...but I'd rather see him running a team as well.  He was one of the best crew chiefs of his day, so as long as he had the right partner he'd probably be able to run a fairly strong effort.

Darrell Waltrip does both, and has been quite successful at both.

Larry Mac better stay as a FOX announcer.  He is the only one up there I really like.  Darrell is OK but his bias opinions during the broadcast are unprofessional.  Also, Larry is usually the guy who mentions the underdogs.  I really dont mind his accent that much.  If you hate a person for their accent never go to NY because you will hate everyone.
