Tonight was a planned S&P.

Marching orders were if Derrike could hang with the pack they would stay out.  If not, pull it in.

The car was slow, so no point in spending $1800 every 20 laps just to stay out.

Actually paid off - they would have ended up 42nd or 41st at best, so they made out financially.

The team needs CASH - the sponsors are not coughing up as promised.

Good luck on signing a real sponsor if you are only going to run 11 laps.  No company wants to align themselves with a bunch of quitters.

My view on McGlynn is this. I am a long time fan, even before Carl's day's with them but Carl helped. Grin

Anywho, the team is in need of money as i said earlier, BUT that does not give them the right to just make the field screw someone else out of the top 35. If he keeps doing this then here is what we will here in a few weeks:

"Oh, hell boy's Derrike Cope got that #74 Dodge rolling dont he? Hell yeah doing a great job out there, but in about 3 laps he is going to park it but oh well. But wait, look here is the tow truck coming out on the track with Kenny Wallace driving. What in the blaze's, he just put Derrike Cope in the wall. Well at least he has a legitimant reason to  be out of the race this week, F-ed Up. Lets see if we can listen in...." "Damnit I didnt get to run those two extra laps."

Finall Results:
43 74 Derrike Cope  Sunpark Vacations  Dodge   $18,000 7/400 F-ed Up

But Seriously guys. A lot of teams that are underfunded give an effort even if they have problems/or think they will blow up. Ex: Carl Long at Daytona, Chad Chaffin at Martinsville & Talladega this year, Stanton Barrett several times in 2006.... I can go one. S&P is gay.

Im sorry about the cussing, I hope I dont get banned for this. Undecided

yeah ok, you must be drunk. That moron should not have been in the race PERIOD. He stole a spot away from someone(s) that was going to run the full length. Don't give me that crap where you can "earn" a right to S&P. That is bull**** and you know it.

Wow, what a great way to show your appreciation to one of Carls sponsors. Roll Eyes  Gee, I hope Ray hasnt read this thread because that would pretty much close the door for an opportunity for Carl to drive a 2nd McGlynn car.

well i know most are mad that the didn;t run the race, but they made the field and earned there spot.  The beat the cars they had to. I am not thrilled that they only ran 11 laps. ,but they put the lap down when it counted and made the show.

I understand your frustration Zdawg...but that does not mean you can come on here and drop a few F bombs, when you clearly know better.  This is your first and last warning on that one.  I shouldn't have to edit the posts of someone who moderates their own board.

dude, if Ray would choose a driver based on what fans say on message boards, he would never find a driver for any car. That would be incredibly naive thinking that an owner would shun Carl based on something that somebody completely unrelated says. Just my 2 cents.

Ah, no. Front Row Motorsports, Furniture Row Motorsports, and R&J Racing screwed-up. McGlynn Racing earned their way in for goodness sakes. If the three teams deserved McGlynn's spot, then they should've outqualified them, but they didn't. Try harder next time. Roll Eyes

This is coming from a fan of Front Row Motorsports, so...

Also coming from a fan of Morgan Shepherd.  Not calling you out or pointing any negative fingers, you're entitled to that opinion.  It just differs from mine, and a lot of other people who are strongly against S&Ping.

Sorry everyone but I fully agree with what they did, this comes from a crew member and a Carl Long fan.  In 2004 the team I was working for got wrecked at Darlington because we were slow and somebody else had no patience.  Our car was destroyed and has really never been the same.  As a small team, that set us back for almost the entire year.  Darlington is a very hard place to get out of the way for faster cars, you either get wrecked or wreck yourself just trying to move over.  I hate it that Carl did not make the race, but the 74 was faster in qualifying and that is what matters.  I think McGlynn saved alot of money by parking, tires are expensive, and more importantly wrecked cars do not help either.
