I love Park, I think he's a great guy and a great driver, just in need of somebody who can talk to him the way Big E used to talk him up. That aside, if he wins this poll(and I know it's season-long, but he's looking good so far) it would absolutely ridiculous! First off, he's not even a Busch Series driver! He's on a partial schedule with Ted Marsh in the #31 car, that hardly constitutes "upholding the integrity of the award" as bgnracing.com claims they are trying to do. Second, there's no way Steve could possibly be the most popular driver on that list. As the topic states, Steve and Mikey share quite a few fans...and something gives me the feeling that Mikey's fans are at it again! Also, I have to wonder what the deal is with Regan Smith and John Andretti. They're nice guys, but I know they aren't as popular as those votes are showing either.

Three words...Dale Earnhardt Inc.
I freaking hate those Sacnuts or whatever those nerds wish to be called. Michael should do a plea to his fans to stop being such douchebags because it really makes him look bad. I can buy your, "you can't dislike a driver because of his fans" theory, but a person can only stomach so much idiotism/bigotry before they subconsciously start to associate the fans with the driver.

Steve Park I can agree still has the DEI factor, but the general consensus amongst most fans I've talked to is that Michael Waltrip is a hated man amongst the DEI community. These "fans" are of some other type of outside force, and seemingly have the same love for Park. And as you said with the DEI factor, one would imagine this is a shoe-win for Paul Menard. He's not a superstar by any means, but he's driving for DEI and he's the best Busch driver out there right now. From the looks of the poll, he's leading the "realistic" vote. |
