Carl's Cup/Truck Weekend Report
« on: February 16, 2006, 10:20:23 PM »

Talked to Carl...

Cup:
They hurt the engine in qualifying some while trying to lay down a good lap near for the race, after that a struggling engine was made worse. At the end of the duel race the team tried to add more tape and hope for the car to draft but he wasnt able to, at the end the engine started to overheat so they had to pull it in.

Trucks:
Carl's still unsure here. The truck was good in yesterday's practice, but something went wrong, and they lost a lot of speed in 2nd practice. The first practice time was without draft aid. They're looking into what could have gone wrong as the qual lap equaled about what he was able to get in 2nd practice which was far off.

Up Next:
Carl is going to run about 12 races this season with a joint effort between peak and hover. in all likelyhood they'll use #80. The next race has not been decided yet, they're going to work on that and see. As for the trucks they're considering bringing the truck to Atlanta. Roadloans will be an associate sponsor for Carl the rest of the season.

Good to here that Hover and PEAK are working as a team. Hover has quite a few cars right?

Stan does have some cars but most of them are outdated though, I hope Peak Motorsports will have decent equipment for Carl to work with, thanks for the update Tom, great job as always!

I was at the track during the Duel 150's.  I can 2nd what Carl said about the tape overheating the engine since I had my scanner tuned into the #80's frequency.  After the crewmember added the tape and they went green, Carl said that the Water temperature was 280 and the Oil temperature was 290 if I remember correctly.  So, if Carl didn't pull it in, he might have been the final caution of the second race.

Also, I did get some pictures of both Carl's car from the Duel’s plus a few pictures of the truck because it was parked right near the fence when I was walking inside the infield going to the fan zone.  Right now, I'm having some computer problems, so as soon as I get everything fixed, I'll post a few of the pictures, maybe sometime tonight if I'm lucky (but don't count on that, possibly look for them tomorrow). Wink

Someone might has printed this already but does anyone have a guess on which 12-15 races Carl might try to qualify for this year? Just curious.
