Just wanted to update everyone. We will not know the verdict of todays hearing until possibly the end of the week.
More waiting.

Carl's first flight from Charlotte to Atlanta (he had a connector) was cancelled, so he had to pick up a later flight, forcing him to find a later flight from Atlanta to Chicago. That one was then delayed a half hour. So I ended up meeting with Commissioner Strang and John Darby at the conference room at 1 pm, and basically just chit chatted with them for about an hour by myself and briefed them in on the situation and explained my whole relationship to Carl. Carl finally came in around 2 pm central and things proceeded. The hearing with the 4 of us only lasted maybe 40 minutes. From my perspective, I don't think it was very favorable for us, it just had that feel to it. Strang is going out of the country on Wednesday for 2 weeks I think, so he told us that he was going to be doing some analysis and would get back to Carl by mid-week. So we'll see...

So that's the person to decide something in Nascar. A person who is not even at the track...

Does anyone know exactly what they are appealing (fine, suspension, points)?
Just the monetary fine and suspension.

So.. what was it like getting to kill an hour with two of the most powerful men in all of sport? Even under the circumstances it still had to be rather interesting, and something I am sure you never expected when starting this site some close to 10 years ago...
I can't believe I've been around here since 2000...

I can't believe I've been around here since 2000... haha it was interesting, this was very last-minute so i wasn't too prepared. I figured if I kept my comments to a minimum it'd probably be for the better. They're good guys though, very respectful. Definitely not something I could have ever imagined happening 10 years ago. Pretty crazy the situations you can get yourself in...

Hey Dee,
Just want you to know that everyone here is praying for you, Carl and all involved. This whole deal is just wrong. Please do not hesitate to call if there is anything we can do.

Welcome, Jack!
You know, the waiting could be a good thing. Maybe they will think about it and the more they think about it, the more they realize how insane it is!

So according to my math, the 8 race suspension starts NOW, after this final appeal. 3 races have been ran since this began...effectively reducing his suspension time by only 1 race from the original 12 and still ending his racing career.
I have 2 fingers held high in the air for NA$CRAP. I hope they all burn in the place where things burn for this and everything else the done to ruin the former sport I loved. They've taken away the only thing I looked forward to.

Actually, the 12 (now 8 ) races started directly after the ruling of the 1st appeal, in which Carl essentially lost. Remember he was able to go to races while the appeal process was in progress. It was 2 races after the initial penalty in which Carl then became suspended, so someone do the math on all of that...

From what I have figured:
Initial Penalty: Suspended Through Michigan (8/16/09) [12 Races from Charlotte 5/25 On]
After 1st Appeal Loss: Suspended Through Atlanta (9/6/09) [12 Races from Pocono 6/7 On]
After Final Commissioner Decision: Suspended Through Pocono (8/2/09) [8 Races from Pocono 6/7 On]
So that last verdict is where I have us standing.
