No words... Horrific news....  One of the most rotten days of my life ...

Long's team penalized heavily, 12 race suspension & points: NASCAR has issued penalties, suspensions and fines to the #46 team [#146] in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, as a result of rules infractions committed during last weekend’s event at Lowe’s Motor Speedway. The car was found to be in violation of Sections 12-1 (actions detrimental to stock car racing); 12-4-I (any determination by NASCAR Officials that the race equipment used in the event does not conform to NASCAR rules); and 20-5.4A (engine exceeded the maximum engine size of 358.000 cubic inch displacement) of the 2009 NASCAR rule book. As a result, crew chief Charles Swing has been fined $200,000, suspended from the next 12 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Championship events, suspended from NASCAR until Aug. 18 and placed on NASCAR probation until Dec. 31. Driver Carl Long and owner Danielle Long have been penalized with the loss of 200 driver and 200 owner points, respectively, suspended from the next 12 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Championship events, suspended from NASCAR until Aug. 18 and placed on NASCAR probation until Dec. 31.(NASCAR)

Yes!!  This has absolutely been the worse day for us as well!!  We purchased a motor at the beginning of the season.  After the motor blew in practice for the showdown, nascar took it and tore it down.  There are NO illegal parts in our engine but the combination of the parts do not meet nascars specs.  We would like to go in detail about everything that has happened over the past few days but we are planning to appeal and the less that is said the better off we will be.  We need your support now more than ever!!

You've got it!  This is beyond belief!  According to what Tom said that he found on Jayski, this is possibly double but is absolutely the largest fine ever given by NASCAR.  We're behind you guys!

Also, check out some of the feedback...

So NASCAR tore the engine down after it blew up because Carl was doing pretty decent time wise, I guess?  Roll Eyes You still got my support, Carl and DeeDee.  thumbsup2

Two thoughts

1) If I was the crew chief I would find another line of work and walk away from NASCAR with my middle finger held high.

2) Does it seem weird to take away points for an event where no matter what points can not be gained? I would think a monetary fine would suffice. Of course if I was NASCAR I would look at two blown engines as sufficient penatly for such a small team, go ahead and take the $5000, but lets not be mentaly challenged about the size of the fine.

I believe in the Winston Cup, the Firecracker 400, World 600, and the drivers earning top rides through years of struggles..and I like it that way.

NASCAR is really trying to do us all in with this one. How many times can they suspend Chad Knaus for "creatively" pushing the envelope and Carl gets strung up like this? The fines have to be somewhat reflective of the scenario, I mean they know the situation Carl is in, he's not a notorious cheater with a checkered background who intentionally cheated to get an advantage. It was a mistake, he finished last, he got $5000, and it was an all-star race on top of that. What are they doing here?

Favoritism at its best...Chad Knaus can get away with everything and anything and for one simple mistake this happens, reading this just reminded me why I don't watch NASCAR anymore.

All I have to say is.... what the hell is wrong with NASCAR? Can they not have some level of common sense? This means Carl and DeeDee can't even go to the track. Carl can't do his job with FRM.

Are they trying to drive out the small teams? Sure looks like it.
